Director's Briefing: Hepatitis C

In this Director's Briefing video, CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden talks about the latest Vital Signs report on hepatitis C (www.cdc.gov/vitalsigns/) -- a leading cause of liver cancer. Although hepatitis C can be a serious disease, most people do not know they are infected. There are about three million Americans with hepatitis C, most of whom are baby boomers born from 1945 through 1965. A blood test can tell if a person has ever been infected with hepatitis C and more effective treatments are available.
