Director's Briefing: Heart Disease and Stroke
The CDC works 24/7 to save lives and protect people. This month's edition of Vital Signs (www.cdc.gov/vitalsigns/) focuses on the health problems that cause the most deaths in the United States: heart disease and stroke. One in three deaths in this country is due to cardiovascular disease. This figure is of great concern, especially because research clearly shows that we could prevent many of these deaths.
