One Test. Two Lives. HIV Screening for Prenatal Care | CDC Features
Pediatric AIDS cases from mother to child transmission have declined in the United States. In 1992 an estimated 900 pediatric AIDS cases were diagnosed compared with 73 cases in 2007. Despite this important success in perinatal HIV prevention, some women and infants are not screened for HIV and do not receive medical treatment if infected.
