Video: Implementing TB Infection Control in Outpatient Settings

Through PEPFAR funding, CDC provides support for HIV care and treatment in over 1,300 HIV/ART clinics in resource-limited countries, primarily in Africa. CDC has recognized that in some countries guidelines for infection control related to Tuberculosis, have not yet been translated to facility level action. This video is part of an implementation package developed to address that need. It is based on the WHO Policy on TB Infection Control in Health-Care Facilities, Congregate Settings and Households (2009) and emphasizes basic, simple activities that can be performed at the facility level to begin implementation of TB infection control. Director's Briefing: Testing to Prevent Colon Cancer

In this Director's Briefing video, CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden talks about this month's Vital Signs, which reports that about 23 million adults (ages 50-75) have not gotten the life-saving tests they need to find colon cancer early. Testing is important. Every year, more than 50,000 Americans die from colon cancer -- yet testing could have found precancerous growths and saved lives. There are different types of screening tests, and people are encouraged to talk with their doctor about which test is right for them. The best test is the test that gets done.
